We just finished our spring 2009 line review and I was going to blog about it. We have 2 new sales reps (Bobby and Brandee), fedoras are selling in the stores, and there was an overall enthusiasm about the hat business. I still never see anyone wearing them in my suburban neighborhood, but I’m feeling positive that that will change one head at a time. We took a party of 10 to a crowded Troy, Michigan restaurant on Tuesday night and 7 of us were wearing hats. We were the only 7 in the restaurant with hats on, but the hostess came by and told us that hats are so cool and she wished she could wear one at work. I’m sure she’s not the only one who noticed us.
So, I was ready to blog about the line when we got a call from Tim, the bass player from the band Switchfoot. He was in town for a gig at DTE tonight. Turns out he is a hat guy. So is his brother Jon (also in the band). And, better yet, he likes Broner hats. Tim has bought some Broner hats before and when he found out that his gig and our offices were ten minutes apart he called us. He came to our showroom and was in hat heaven. Not only did he get hats for him and the band, he bought around 1000 for their fans! They are going to have them with them on tour. Way to go Tim! And we got back stage passes! So my blog changed.
I’ll blog about our line later. I’m off to the MAGIC show tomorrow.
