Bob's Blog Archive September 10th, 2009 Back to work – That’s the feeling I got Tuesday after 6 days in Las Vegas and a long Labor Day weekend. Well today’s Thursday but it feels like Wednesday because Tuesday felt like Monday and you get the picture, I’m up to my neck in work. But it’s all good. The MAGIC show was good for us. We had many meetings with retailers large and small. We opened up 20 new stores for Broner and that was the best news. The hat business seems more stable than other areas of the clothing business; at least that is what we heard. And Sandi, (helps us with design) who attended some trend seminars put on by Fashion Snoops, (a forecasting service and consulting company) was so excited to tell me that the number one men’s accessory in their forecast for spring 2010 is the straw hat. And their number one clothing theme for young mens is called “beatnik” which includes the fedora as part of the wardrobe. So we’ve got that going for us. Our 2010 catalog is on the street and we are busy working with retailers putting programs together for spring. If you are a retailer reading this and you are still not selling hats, it is time to get on board. The results are making people smile. So we did get the Facebook thing going since my last blog. It’s not where we need it to be, yet, but we are part of the community. And we are looking for Fans, both retailers and consumers. We are going to grow this Broner thing and connect our consumer Fans to our retail Fans; one step at a time. Check it out and become a Fan. Hey, Kathy just poked her head in my office and told me she got her first significant order for 2010. It’s a clothing catalog and they just bought 1,368 straw hats with the bands coordinated to match their clothing. And that is just based on last year’s results; this book hasn’t even dropped yet. Way to go Kathy! That’s it for now. I’m feeling ok about the state of the union. The economy still has everyone clutching the breaks, and everyone is still buying cautious. We still have to watch every dollar too, but things seem like they are headed in a positive direction. I think we have seen the bottom, so there is only one way to go. But like I said in the beginning of this blog – it’s all about going to work! Streetwear Booth
