Blogging Again
I’m finally getting settled back at the office.  I spent a week in Las Vegas at the MAGIC show, came home for 3 days, and then went to Asia for 10 days visiting hat factories.  It’s time to remind my kids who their father is.

It’s also time to update the blog.

How was the Magic Show?  That’s the first question everyone wants to know.  I’ll say this; if you were selling stingy brim hats, it was fantastic.  I was up in Streetwear with Christy and we saw more people wearing hats (not caps) than I can ever remember.  Still, most heads were empty, but that is changing.  I think I have a handle on what is important for Spring 09 in terms of headwear.  It is contemporary stingy brim hats.  If you are a retailer of fashion, get on the train, ‘cause it is rolling.  I’ll also say that the sun and the environment are big motivators in headwear.  Anything that can make claim to sun protection or any fabric that is “green” or earth friendly is strong.

I think I mentioned in an earlier blog about my friends not wearing hats.  So, I went out with my friends Raphael and Julie and brought a hat for Raphael.  A black pork pie and I was wearing a brown one.  He loved it and we wore it to this trendy new restaurant and bar called Ocean Prime.  Everybody there tries to look better than the next, but we were the only two wearing hats.  Got a lot of looks and chatter, like what’s up with the hats.  It was all fun.  Then I see him a few weeks later and he shows me this picture of him at his friends’ son’s bar mitzvah.  It’s a fancy affair and Raphael is wearing his pork pie hat – and loving it.  The only one at the party with a hat on.  I’m going to try to get a picture up on the site.  I’m sure Raphael never considered himself a trend setter.  But we’ll see if a few more of his friends don’t start wearing hats.  Sounds like I should be giving away more hats to friends.

Finally there is my man Heath.  The picture below speaks for itself.  I had to call him and ask him if it is the hat or the music that attracts the women.  Since I already own a lot of hats, I think I’m going to learn how to play guitar.

Regards for now!
